Innovation, Design and Quality
Tombow is a traditional Japanese company. It was founded in 1913 by Harunosake Ogawa and is in the hands of the Ogawa family to this day. The headquarters of the company is still located in Tokyo. There are two subsidiaries: one in Germany, which was founded in 1979 and also serves as the European headquarters, as well as one in the USA. It is not only in Japan that the brand Tombow enjoys “cult” status; Tombow products also enjoy great popularity among consumers in many other countries.
Tombow’s business activity rests on three pillars: writing, office and creative products. They are all characterised by sophisticated ergonomics, the highest functionality and beautiful design.
Tombow’s most well-known office product is the original MONO correction tape roller. Pioneered around fifteen years ago, Tombow brought it onto the market as the world’s first lateral dispensing correction tape roller. It was awarded two internationally coveted prizes for its successful design. In the meantime, the original MONO correction tape roller is the market leader among correction tape rollers in Germany and many other countries.
The writing instrument range from Tombow consists of numerous record-holders. The Zoom 707 is probably the world’s thinnest writing instrument. The shape of its slender body is reminiscent of a dragonfly, and that is no coincidence: “Tombow” is the Japanese word for dragonfly. The Zoom 707 has received several renowned awards for its extraordinary design. Tombow has received at least one design prize for a new writing instrument creation almost every year since the introduction of writing instruments 20 years ago.
This also includes, what is probably the world’s fattest writing instrument, the Egg Pen. The Zoom 414, on the other hand, is probably the world’s thinnest multi-pen and the members of the Zoom 101 Carbon Collection are probably the world’s lightest writing instruments. Tombow writing instruments are very high quality products and therefore come with a life-long guarantee!
The new Creative Collection, which Tombow presented at Paperworld in 2008 for the first time, consists of seven clever adhesive products - from liquid glue and adhesive rollers to glue pens. The upbeat packaging and advertising materials inspire crafting fun at first glance. Craft experts have already given the Creative Collection high marks - as have consumers in extensive test campaigns. It’s no wonder - after all, Tombow has many years of outstanding know-how in the area of high quality glues and adhesives. The Creative Collection is rounded off with an extensive palette of brush pens: the ABT Dual Brush Pens - available in 96 different colours - which professional artists simply call “the Tombows”.
