Break a record with New Guardian... Are you ready to push the envelope?

posted on May 1, 2008

It’s time to put your stamp on the envelope world and become a record breaker with Pushing the Envelope, sponsored by New Guardian. The innovative website, www.envelopeworldrecords.com and envelopes are all you need for the fun online campaign which invites you to make and break as many envelope-related records as possible.

From 1st May 2008, Pushing the Envelope and New Guardian challenge you and your friends and colleagues to become an envelope advocates and have fun in the home and work place. Record breakers will use the dedicated website to share videos, images and stories of record breaking attempts.

After approaching the Guinness Book of World Records, and being rejected for not being ‘interesting enough’, Pushing the Envelope has decided to lobby to get Envelope World Records recognised. Pushing the Envelope and New Guardian are in full support of this worthwhile campaign to challenge perceptions that envelopes are boring!

The site also boasts a range of exciting activities:

  • Blogosphere page — where record breakers can interact and share tales of record breaking success or mayhem!
  • Campaign update — with the latest news and updates
  • Competitions — with the once in a lifetime opportunity to visit an envelope factory in Washington*
  • Video — the world’s most spectacular envelope advertisement
  • Trial — the chance to trial an envelope and come up with that record breaking idea

Naomi Jenkins, New Guardian Brand Manager, comments: “Envelopes are a stationery necessity and the campaign is a novel idea which will bring to life what many consider to be a functional piece of stationery. New Guardian is encouraging everyone to get involved with the campaign, and have a bit of fun. It is also a great opportunity to raise money for a worthwhile cause as for every box of New Guardian Envelopes sold 20p is donated to the NSPCC. Why not have sponsored record attempts in your office? We really hope that we can get Envelope World Records recognised by getting everyone Pushing the Envelope”.

If you think you could build the highest envelope tower, stuff the most envelopes in a minute or break another record using envelopes, then visit www.envelopeworldrecords.com and upload your ideas for a chance to win a tour of an envelope factory in Washington!*. Entries are accepted until the 30th June and the winner will be chosen by 31st July 2008.
