Pritt’s branding

Pritt’s Biography Go back to profile

Henkel constantly strives to create products that make people’s lives ‘easier, better, and more beautiful’.

Pritt is so well-known that it has become part of everyday language. In any office or home, you can hear people say “pass me the Pritt stick”, or “have you seen the Pritt stick?”

Things were a lot different before 1973 in the UK (invented in 1969 in Germany), before the revolutionary Pritt stick was launched. Up until this point, the market was dominated by liquid glues that were awkward and messy to use. Pritt, the innovative solid glue stick, could do everything its traditional liquid rivals could do, but it was cleaner, quicker and easier to use. Since then it has achieved the status of becoming a widely recognised generic term for glue.

Pritt regularly wins design and innovation awards. In recent years it has been named Nemo Supplier of the Year and Dealer Network Supplier of the Year. In 2003, Woolworths honoured the brand with its Most Creative use of Marketing Award.

The brand’s success means it has a major presence in most of the outlets where it is sold. These include Tesco, ASDA Walmart, Staples and WH Smith. In addition, lets not forget the traditional corner shop.

Given the brand’s popularity with children, it is inevitably the brand of choice for many schools. In total, over 23 million Pritt sticks are sold every year.
