Office Wellbeing through Water Health Checks

Water (for Work and Home) offers instant employee health checks

Employee sickness costs UK business an average of £600 per year per employee (Source:CBI/AXA Survey). Following recent trials with the Park Royal Partnership in North-west London - the largest industrial estate in Europe - and with refuse vehicle manufacturer Scarab, Water (for Work and Home) has launched a programme of Health and Hydration Education Days, designed to highlight any employee health problems at an early stage.

March 5th, 2009

The Health and Hydration Education Days include a health-and-hydration briefing by Water (for Work and Homes)’s in-house scientist Colin Wilson PhD; a question-and-answer session; health-and-hydration quiz, and individual employee health checks (weight; heart rate; body mass index; blood pressure; Hydration Quota™; and body fat content) using a new standalone Corporate Wellbeing Centre, The Water Wellpoint.

The Water Wellpoint, exclusive to Water (for Work and Home), enables staff to self-test their current state of health discreetly and without visiting a doctor (time lost attending medical appointments is the main cause of absence for over 40% of employees).

Sick days currently cost UK companies a massive £13 billion a year and sickness absence can have a dramatic effect on businesses performance, not to mention the impact it has on employees.

Ben McGannan, managing director, Water (for Work and Home) says: “Employee wellbeing is fast moving up the corporate agenda. Employers have a ‘duty of care’ to employee’s health, safety and welfare in the workplace. In addition, senior management is recognising that a fit and healthy workforce is of paramount importance to the ever-increasing competitiveness required to do business in today’s environment.”

Health and Hydration Education Days consist of between 4 and 6 one hour sessions — each hour-long session can test up to 15 employees. The day is designed for all levels of staff — from the factory floor to the board room. Those who attend will discover how they can better appreciate the many factors that contribute toward their health, hydration and overall wellbeing.

Benefits organisations can gain from the Health and Hydration Education Days and the Wellbeing Centre are:

  • Improved productivity
  • Improved attendance rates
  • Improved staff retention
  • Improved staff morale

And at the same time:

  • Reduced staff turnover

Water (for Work and Home) offers in-company health checks from just £30.00 plus VAT per employee.
