I quickly came to realise that it was my daily exercise sessions that helped me to stay sharp mentally and physically for those all important business decisions. I also noticed that the employees who worked out on a regular basis and kept an eye on their nutrition were more balanced and relaxed in the workplace (and life in general), so didn’t get as stressed when deadlines were approaching or the pressure was on.
After going through significant personal and professional change, as you do, which either destroys you if it hits you hard enough and you don’t learn from it, or build you if you roll with the blow no matter how hard and painful to gain from the experience, which is akin to the universe telling you that it’s time to wake up and smell the coffee. I decided that it was time to alter my entire life and put into practice what I always had a natural affinity for.
I’ve trained in kickboxing for over 25 years and am a black belt 2nd Dan instructor. I decided to begin teaching martial arts and was an instructor at some of the most popular City and West End gyms and the positive feedback and overwhelming response and “buzz” I received was fantastic.
Having an insiders knowledge of physiology as well as being able to train people, I was also able to advise on every aspect of training and nutrition…
…This really was my turning point, my Eureka moment!
I enrolled in college and qualified in physical assessment, nutrition and personal training and also weight management. I worked as a personal trainer for 9 years training people in their own homes, across Kensington, Chelsea, Mayfair and Knightsbridge and there seemed to be a real need for my type of service because, although a lot of commercial gyms offer the equipment and trainers, they don’t provide the personal service and attention that most people like and need.
I made people feel special and shared their enjoyment as they saw and felt very real changes inside and out. Whilst I was the Lifestyle Manager at a trendy Camden gym, I was lucky enough to work with an Evening Standard journalist who wanted to change his entire life and also lose two stone in weight in a eight week period, which with my help he accomplished easily and safely and as a consequence, I was featured in two separate articles, in the London Evening Standard.
I also hold qualifications as an NLP Practitioner, Life Coach, Hypnotherapist, Reps 3 qualified Personal Trainer, BAWLA Weightlifting Coach, Nutritionist and Weight Management Coach.
It was about this time that I decided to utilise my Martial Arts skills to the fullest extent and worked closely with a metropolitan police officer with whom I put together my “Women’s Safety Awareness” workshop.
And thus was born The Lifestyle Guy-providing personalised programmes for both companies and individuals!
